Grant-funded Certified Nurse’s Aide Training at Jerome Home

The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain authorized a grant to help support Jerome Home’s Certified Nursing Aide Training partnered with the Academy of Medical Training. 

“On behalf of Jerome Home and Arbor Rose, I am very grateful for the grant received by the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain.  This grant will help us build on our recruitment and retention efforts allowing us to continue providing the utmost care and service to our residents.  The opportunity the class provides to the community of Greater New Britain is a stepping stone to higher education, employment and a fulfilling career experience,” said Executive Director, Arbor Rose at Jerome Home, Lori Toombs.

Jerome Home’s course offers certified nurse's aide training to interested candidates, guaranteed employment with Jerome Home and a scale higher than minimum wage with an extensive benefits package. The program is expected to support 12 students and will assist Jerome Home in filling positions in the nursing department while continuing to provide quality care and service to residents.

The two-week long course covers the approved Department of Public Health requirements such as hands-on experience, personal care, vitals, person-centered care and other related topics such as residents' rights and effective communication. Students will complete their clinical at Jerome Home. Applicants must be from the following areas: Berlin, New Britain, Plainville and Southington.
