LEAVING A LEGACY ~ MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Making a difference. Offering a contribution. Leaving a Legacy. What you do in terms of giving to others speaks significantly about what is important to you. Many of us don’t realize until it is too late that true legacies live and breathe and it is possible for us to establish our own legacy while we are still active, healthy and involved.
Jerome Home, a not-for-profit senior living community offering long term skilled nursing as well as rehabilitation services, has been serving the Central Connecticut community since 1932. Originally established through the generous donation of Mr. Augustus Smith Jerome in 1905, Jerome Home continues to thrive through the spirit of donation. Donors enjoy the pleasure of seeing the difference even a small donation can make in the lives of those who have given so much to our community, our families and a generation’s history.
Why should my charitable gifts go to Jerome Home?
Jerome Home has been an established center of care and community for 75 years in the Central Connecticut area. Generations of families and friends have been touched by the exemplary care given at Jerome Home. Commitment to delivering the finest care available to seniors in need of our care is our stated mission. Giving to the programs and services that Jerome Home offers is a statement of support and partnership with a community dedicated to taking care of its senior community.
What types of programming does my Charitable Gift support?
Where your gift is directed is up to you. Many people give in memory or honor of loved ones. Others are looking for a tax deductible charity that keeps on giving. Some donors have a special interest and give toward the program or service they would like to see enhanced. Below are samples of services/programming that will benefit from your generosity.
Good Life Fitness – An exclusive comprehensive exercise program specifically designed to address the unique physical needs of seniors and offered under the direction of specially trained exercise physiologists. This program is located on site at SCC. Donations are used for scholarships for seniors in our area who cannot afford tuition for our preventive exercise program and sometimes to purchase needed specialized equipment.
Tranquill Passages – an exclusive end-of-life philosophy adopted by Southington Care Center manifested in a uniquely holistic, loving approach that encompasses both the dying individual and their loved ones during the last days and weeks of a dying person’s life. Tranquill Passages was inspired by the generous donation of Dr. Carol Grant, following the exceptional care received by her parents at Southington Care Center during the last stages of each of their lives.
Recreation and Leisure Programming – Social, intellectual, physical, creative and mentoring opportunities that provide balanced, fulfilling and memorable experiences for the seniors living in our communities. Donations are used to purchase additional equipment and programs that enhance existing services that contribute to daily life for the seniors in our care.
Rehabilitation/Therapy Programs – While our Rehabilitation/Therapy programs use state of the art equipment and techniques to assist rehab patients as our client population continues to grow so does the need for additional and replacement equipment. Several pieces of valuable and necessary equipment have been made available because of the generosity of individual donors.
Jane Haze Memorial Pet Therapy Fund – The Jane Haze Memorial Pet Therapy Fund has been established with proceeds to benefit pet therapy programs offered and sponsored by Jerome Home, members of Central Connecticut Senior Health Services and affiliates of The Hospital of Central Connecticut.
Area of Greatest Need – Some who give would like their donation to go to the area of greatest need at the time of their contribution. Any of the above areas would be considered when distribution of the gift is being decided as well as unexpected needs that arise.
What are the Benefits to my giving charitably?
Reasons to give vary widely. Giving is always a personal decision. Many people are prompted to give when something touches them or their loved ones personally. Others are concerned about the importance of supporting programs that support members of our community and select a favorite program or service. Many people give in memory of or in honor of someone who has received our servicees. Other reasons to give include:
A personal sense of purpose, value and compassion
Connection to community involvement
Spiritual or religious fulfillment
Whatever the reason, there is no doubt that 100% of your tax deductible contribution goes directly to the program of your choice. To make a donation please contact, Lisa Crofton, Director of Community Resources 860 378-1284.
